Närpes, Östermarksvägen 2022-2023

Östermarksvägen runs past the school centre and indoor swimming pool at Mosebacke in the town of Närpes, and was narrow, crooked and generally regarded as dangerous, not least for the school pupils using it. When Närpes town council took over a number of state roads, and Östermarksvägen was reclassified as a street, the opportunity presented itself to do something about the problem. The council contracted JP Revahl Ab Oy for construction of the traffic-improvement measures.
“Foot- and cycle paths have been built along a stretch of about 500 metres, the carriageway has been improved and speed restrictions installed,” explains Stig-Erik Ingves, Roads Director at Närpes town council. “This was our first contact with JP Revahl Ab Oy, but we are highly satisfied. The contractor finished ahead of schedule and collaboration was excellent. The overall management showed considerable skill and broad experience, and we are delighted that the subcontractors used were local,” continues Ingves.
Michael Sandelin, the Project Manager from Revahl, is also delighted with the level of collaboration.
“Communications worked smoothly, thanks to the ease of contact. We have enjoyed close contact throughout the project.”
Sandelin was responsible for the budget and schedule, material procurement and continuity of work at the site.
“Our biggest challenge in the project was the new type of speed restrictions to be built. These were the first of this type seen in Finland, but have proven to work well,” he continues.
As the turnkey contractor, Revahl was able to propose alternative solutions during the project.
“That meant we got a better finished product, which we’re grateful for. Revahl were very proactive, and also introduced all the other choices involved in the project, which was a success in terms of cost and quality,” states Ingves.

RKL Poukkula Oy, Propadel Finland 2021-2022

JP Revahl Ab Oy was contracted by RKL Poukkula to perform all groundworks and infrastructure related to five 1,500 m2 padel halls at various locations around Finland. Revahl also acted as supervisors for the project.
“The various sites all had totally different conditions and soil, which required adaptation of the way we worked. The surprises we did encounter were quickly and effectively dealt with without problems, and the work progressed extremely smoothly and efficiently. Communication between us was also very open and good,” states Paolo Pisano, Director for Business Operations at the company.
Because of the long distances from Revahl’s base, it was decided to use local subcontractors – not unusual when distance exceeds 100 km for environmental and other reasons.
“We performed everything from excavation and road-building to constructing the car parks for the halls,” says Jens-Patrik Revahl, who personally managed the supervision work.
He also believes that everything went very well.
“We already have a number of joint projects in the planning stage,” adds Pisano. This collaboration is set to continue.

Vörå Municipality, Tallmo Clinic 2022-2024

Renovation, demolition and new construction at the Tallmo Clinic in Vörå is a multi-year project with many challenges, including carrying out the demolition and construction work in phases while the clinic is still operational on the same site. JP Revahl Ab Oy is acting as project manager and supervisor and Mats Helsing therefore makes daily site visits.
“I act as the contact between the developer, i.e. Vörå Municipality, the clinic, building contractor and planners. I also get involved with documentation and reporting, and holding all weekly meetings,” explains Helsing.
Vörå Municipality has worked with Revahl before, and appreciates the methods and flexibility of the company.
“They work in exactly the way we want. They take the job seriously and are very reliable,” states Jan Östman, Technical Director of Vörå Municipality. “We value our collaboration with Revahl – it represents a model for our municipality of perfectly adapted contractual services. Revahl is also extremely flexible and quick to adapt to our needs or what the project needs.
This was a challenging project, and required a contractor we were able to have a good dialogue with. We know exactly where we are with each other,” concludes Östman.

EPV Vindkraft Ab Norrskogen Wind Farm, Närpes

JP Revahl Ab Oy won the turnkey contract from EPV Vindkraft Ab to act as supervisors of the whole infrastructure for the Norrskogen Wind Farm in Närpes between 2021-22
“This was a project that required considerable precision, reliability and quick decision making. It also involved the supervisor always being on site and able to envisage the end result right from the start,” states Site Manager Ari-Johan Myllyniemi from EPV Vindkraft Ab.
Mats Helsing acted as supervisor for Revahl.
“What this involved in practical terms was me ensuring that the work of building roads in the wind farm and building the foundations for the turbines was done according to the building specifications, and that daily progress was documented in photographs and writing.
A separate inspection log was required for all 17 turbines,” adds Helsing, “And I attended all weekly meetings with the developer and all the contractors.”
Helsing describes the biggest challenge with the project:
It turned out that the soil surveys were not totally in line with reality. The nature of the area required a number of updates to the plan, which led to more work. Collaboration with the developer worked extremely well, and it was a great job to work on,” concludes Helsing.
On the developer's side, Myllyniemi had this to say:
“We gained a very positive impression of our supervisors. There are a lot of interested parties who have to work together on the site, which requires considerable collaborative skills. Each type of work is independent, which means totally different requirements. Revahl were able to master all of this and everything worked well,” concludes Myllyniemi.

Patrik and Anna-Lotta Skog, Private house building Project 2021-2023

Patrik and Anna-Lotta Skog from Malax were looking for a contractor able to act as Project Manager and Chief Planner for their house building project, and if possible, also be able to offer a turnkey solution that included the groundworks on the site.
“It turned out to be hard – almost no one could offer the right package – until we were tipped off about JP Revahl Ab Oy,” says Skog. They gave us an excellent quote for a turnkey solution, and made a good first impression.
We subsequently found out that we’d made the best choice during the whole construction process.
There were no stupid questions. We could call Revahl at any time and ask about anything. We received clear answers at every step of the process, which also made it very easy to follow.”
Despite the soil surveys previously being done on the site, a few surprises did pop up when the groundworks were started.
“It turned out that hardcore filler would not be enough and we would be forced to use piles. That was a big setback for us, but Revahl arranged it all quickly and efficiently.”
“Within a couple of days, the problem was solved thanks to a good network of collaborative partners,” injects Jens-Patrik Revahl, who managed the project.
It all ran painlessly, despite it being quite a big change for the couple.
“Looking back, we can see that piling was the best alternative – we got a safe foundation and can sleep soundly at night,” adds Skog.
Getting all the services needed in addition to managing and planning the work saved a lot of time and energy, and when it comes to building a garage, they know who to ask!

Lemonsoft Oyj, Vaasan toimistotilat 2022

When Lemonsoft Oyj decided to extend and renovate their offices in Vasa, they contracted JP Revahl Ab Oy for the planning, project management and supervision. Caroline Lund was responsible for planning and Mats Helsing for project management and supervision.
“Our offices used to be on the fourth and parts of the fifth floor. To give us more room, we needed the rest of the fifth floor converted into offices from its previous use as storage,” explains CFO Mari Erkkilä of Lemonsoft Oyj.
By contracting Revahl for all three elements, a comprehensive and flexible turnkey solution was obtained.
“This was our first contact with Revahl, and it was a very positive experience. They were unbelievably helpful and because a lot of dealings with the authorities were needed, we avoided having to act as middleman thanks to Revahl handling it all,” adds Erkkilä.
“The demolition work was the biggest challenge, as some of the other tenants in the building wanted us to work during the daytime, whilst others wanted it done in the evening,” recalls Helsing.
He was present several times a week in his role as Supervisor, and in constant contact with the construction workers.
“The Supervisor’s role is the expert representing the developer, to ensure that the customer gets what was ordered,” explains Helsing.
“And that’s what we got,” confirms Erkkilä. “The end result is brilliant and we are very satisfied. I am wholly confident that everything was done just as it should be.”
